Of the coastal resorts south of Sydney, Kiama, located 90 minutes south of Sydney, is probably the most attractive. Kiama is renowned for its safe, pristine swimming beaches and there is also an abundance of local restaurants, cafes, art drive to the historic towns of Berry and Berrima and only a few kilometres further to the scenic Kangaroo Valley and Fitzroy Falls. A small resort and fishing town, Kiama is famous for its star attraction, the Blowhole. Stemming from a natural fault in the cliffs, the blowhole explodes into a water spout when a wave hits with sufficient force. The name Kiama is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning 'where the sea makes a noise', a reference to the towns Blowhole. Directions: From Princes Highway take Kiama turnoff (left). Turn right at first roundabout along Terralong St Drive west for 3km and turn left at top of hill into Jerrara Rd. Spring Creek Retreat is 200m on the left at first bend in road.
